After making weight for his UFC 303 matchup, Payton Talbott didn’t waste any time indulging in some serious eating. The rising bantamweight prospect remained undefeated with an impressive 19-second knockout of Yanis Ghemmouri during the prelims of UFC’s International Fight Week event.
Following his win, Talbott shared that he weighed much more than the 135.5 pounds he registered the morning before the event.
“I was like 161 with clothes on,” Talbott said on The MMA Hour. “I had quite a bit of clothes on, so I don’t know.”
When asked about the significant weight gain, the 25-year-old candidly explained that seafood played a major role in helping him pack on the pounds before the fight.
“I was just stuffing myself,” Talbott admitted. “I went to an oyster bar in Vegas, then we went to sushi. I had whatever the UFC gave me — a bunch of pasta, pudding cake, just so much stuff.”
Talbott’s victory at UFC 303 improved his professional record to 9-0, with finishes in all but one of his fights, including his Contender Series victory this past August. Since signing his UFC contract, Talbott is 3-0 inside the octagon.

As he continues to succeed, Talbott is realizing that maintaining a low profile is becoming increasingly challenging.
“I get a feeling for what the future is going to be like. I can just internally feel the way things are going to go, and it’s a little scary and intimidating — but it’s also exciting. … I just don’t like having the spotlight on me, honestly. It’s just what people watch and it’s like, ‘What’s next, what’s next?’
Talbott explained.
“Sometimes it makes me a little uncomfortable, a little uneasy when people are watching too hard. I just desire to be watched and not seen.
Despite the discomfort of being in the spotlight, Talbott’s performances in the octagon continue to draw attention. With his latest victory, the young fighter is on a path to becoming a prominent name in the UFC, whether he likes it or not.
